Chapter 100 Sarah's pov.
Richard and I had finally made it to Hawaii, and it was like stepping into a dream. The air was warm, salty, and fresh, with just enough breeze to carry the sound of waves crashing against the shore. Everything about the island seemed to welcus, from the towering palms swaying gently overhead to the way the sunlight danced across the crystal-clear water.
For once, there was nothing between us-no work, no , no problems to pull us apart. Just the two of us, here in paradise.
I glanced over at Richard as we stepped into the resort. He had this calm look on his face, almost boyish, like he was seeing something magical for the first time.
I couldn't help but smile; seeing him like this madefeel lighter too, as if all the weight we'd been carrying just slipped away the moment we landed.
"It's beautiful, isn't it?" I asked, nudging him.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtHe looked around, nodding slowly as his eyes took it all in. "Yeah," he said, grinning. "But it's nothing compared to you." I rolled my eyes, laughing, but I still felt a warm flutter in my chest. Maybe it was the ocean air, maybe it was Hawaii, or maybe it was just finally having this talone together, but something between us felt... easy.
As soon as we dropped our bags in our suite, Richard was already pullingout the door, insisting we "start the adventure." And so we did, strolling hand-in-hand through the resort grounds, exploring every corner. Everything felt bright and alive-people were laughing and splashing in the pool, couples were lounging together, and families were watching the sunset. The whole place buzzed with happiness.
We wandered down to the beach and kicked off our shoes, letting our feet sink into the warm sand.
I reached down, scooping up a handful and letting it slip through my fingers, the fine grains catching the light as they fell back to the ground.
"Think you could live here?" he asked, his voice soft.
I looked up at him, surprised. "Live here? Like... forever?" "Why not?" He shrugged, smiling. "Sunshine every day, ocean views, no responsibilities..." "No responsibilities?" I gave him a playful nudge. "You'd go nuts without something to keep you busy." He laughed, raising his hands in surrender. "Okay, okay. Maybe it's just nice to think about it." "It is," I agreed, glancing out at the horizon. For a moment, it was easy to imagine staying here, just like this, away from all the noise and complications.
But then, the real world was still there, waiting. "But you know what? Right now, I'm okay with just a vacation. One day at a time." He squeezed my hand. "One day at a time, then." As we walked back up the beach, we stumbled upon a small, cozy-looking outdoor restaurant.
Twinkling string lights hung between palm trees, casting a warm glow over the tables, and there was a soft melody playing-a ukulele, I thought, giving the place a welcoming, intimate feel. "Hungry?" he asked, raising his brows.
"Starving," I replied, my stomach rumbling in agreement.
We settled into a table with a view of the beach, ordered two coconut drinks, and let the evening wash over us. Our server brought a fresh seafood platter, and we dug in, laughing and talking like we hadn't in a long time. Every now and then, I'd catch him staring at me, a soft smile on his lips, and I'd feel my heart do a little flip. It felt almost like we were on our first date again.
After we finished dinner, we took a walk under the stars, the beach was quiet now, with only the sounds of the waves and our voices filling the air.
Eventually, we made our way back to our suite, feeling buzzed from the drinks and the night itself.
Back in our room, we shared a kiss, one that turned into something deeper, until we found ourselves tangled together in bed.
For the first tin what felt like ages, there was nothing between us, nothing holding us back or makingsecond-guess things. Just us, as we were meant to be.

He chuckled, then paused, as if he were deciding whether or not to tell me. "I was just... I was thinking of doing something big," he said slowly, his voice almost a whisper. "Something big?" I lifted my head, studying his face. "Like what?" He flashed a playful grin. "Can't tell you. It's a surprise." "Con, Richard, you can't just say that and not tell me!" I nudged him, pouting.
"Hey, I'll let you know soon enough." He looked so pleased with himself, as if he'd just planned out the best surprise in the world. "You'll love it, I promise." I lay back down, rolling my eyes but smiling. A big gesture... what could he be planning? It was rare for Richard to keep secrets from me, especially ones he was excited about.
Part ofwas dying to know, but another part was happy to let him have his fun. After all, surprises were half the fun, right?
The next morning, he draggedout of bed for an early breakfast on the balcony. The sun was just starting to peek over the horizon, casting a golden glow over the ocean, and the view took my breath away. "Good morning, sleepyhead," he teased, handinga cup of coffee. I took a sip, savoring the rich, smooth flavor. "Good morning," I replied, smiling as I leaned into his side.
For the rest of the day, we wandered around the island, taking in eye sight and sound We went snorkeling in the clear, blue water, swimming alongside bright, colorful fish. Richard, of course, tried to impressby diving down deeper than anyone else in our group, only to cback up gasping for air and laughing like a little kid.
I couldn't stop laughing either, watching him shake off the water like sovergrown puppy.
"You okay there, show-off?" I teased, splashing him.
He splashedright back, grinning. "Oh, I'm more than okay. I'm thriving."
The hours seemed to slip by, and by the twe made it back to our suite, we were exhausted but happy. We lay side by side on the bed, catching our breath and staring up at the ceiling. "You know," he said, turning his head to look at me, "I don't remember the last tI laughed like that." neither," I admitted, feeling a warmth spread through me. "It's nice, isn't it? Just... being here." He nodded, his gaze soft. "Yeah. More than nice."
